Meet the Founder

I am a recent MSW graduate with over seven years of experience supporting individuals, youth, and families through moments of change, challenge, and growth. My passion lies in creating a space where people feel truly seen, heard, understood, and supported as they navigate their healing journey. My work is rooted in compassion, cultural awareness, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to reclaim their voice and their story.

I am currently accepting referrals for counselling with youth ages seven and up, Black families, and newcomers who are adjusting to life in a new environment. At this time, my sessions are offered virtually while I finalize an in-person location. I will share updates as soon as that space becomes available. In the meantime, I may have access to a temporary office for clients who prefer in-person support.

I am also collaborating closely with Transparency Therapy alongside Dr. Al-Saadi, a clinician with extensive experience supporting refugee families and individuals with complex migration stories. This partnership allows us to share knowledge, strengthen our cultural and trauma-informed approaches, and work collaboratively to ensure clients receive the most holistic and effective care possible.

At Maisha Roots Therapy, my focus is on helping people move from a life that feels paused or overwhelmed by shame, pain, anger, loneliness, loss, grief, anxiety, depression, and many other emotional challenges. I support clients in shifting from struggle to resilience and from simply surviving to truly thriving. The meaning of Maisha, which is life, reflects the heart of this practice. My approach is grounded in cultural understanding, trauma-informed care, and respect for the wisdom carried in our personal and ancestral stories.

I walk with clients through every stage of life, nurturing growth, self-awareness, emotional clarity, and deeper insight into their mental and spiritual wellbeing. Whether someone is planting new beginnings, navigating transitions, or tending to deep and longstanding wounds, I offer a steady and grounded presence. I am here to support healing, restoration, and the journey back to a meaningful and empowered life.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is grounded in the belief that every person carries an inner wisdom that longs to be heard, nurtured, and honoured. Healing is not a destination but a journey that unfolds with courage, compassion, and the presence of someone who truly listens. I believe that when people feel safe, seen, and supported, they begin to reconnect with the parts of themselves that have been silenced, overlooked, or weighed down by life’s challenges.

At the heart of my work is the understanding that our stories matter. The experiences we carry, whether spoken or unspoken, shape how we navigate the world. I believe in offering a space where those stories can be explored without judgment, where emotions can be expressed freely, and where healing can emerge in its own time. Every individual is unique, and so is their path toward wellness. Because of this, I draw from evidence-based practices while staying sensitive to each person’s cultural identity, lived experiences, and personal strengths.

Above all, I believe in the possibility of renewal. Just as roots hold and nourish a tree, I believe every person has roots within themselves that can be strengthened and restored. Whether someone seeks to heal old wounds, navigate new transitions, or rediscover their purpose, I strive to provide a space where they can grow with clarity, courage, and confidence.

Maisha means life, and my philosophy reflects this truth. Life can be complex, painful, and unpredictable, but it can also be beautiful, resilient, and full of the potential for change. My commitment is to walk with individuals, youth, families, and communities through every season of their journey, grounded, present, and wholeheartedly invested in their healing.
